This afternoon I walked into a showing of ‘Remember Me’ already knowing how it was going to end (thanks comment section on EW.com for that).
However, knowing the ending and then feeling the power coming from such amazing performances are two very different feelings.
This is the first non/post-Twilight role I’ve seen Rob Pattinson take on (not counting Harry Potter). I didn’t see ‘How To Be’ and had no interest in seeing ‘Little Ashes’. Its not that I’m not a Rob fan, just wasn’t going out of my way to see those films. In fact up until I saw the ‘Remember Me’ trailer, I wasn’t 100% for sure I was going to see this film.
Seeing Rob outside of his ‘Edward Cullen’ role gave me a true since of this acting ability, his performance while brooding had a real eliminate to it, and the chemistry he had with Emily De Ravin was very fitting.
Giving an understated performance was Pierce Brosnan with the thick Brooklyn accent whose vibes can be very mis-leading.
Then there is the ending, if you do the mental math at the beginning you will know that this takes place in 2001, and I’m sure only one major event sticks out in your mind when you think of New York City and 2001… September 11!
Yes, they went there.
Now, I’m a transplant New Yorker, so I wasn’t in the city when that event took place, but I still remember everything about what happened that day.
The way they approach the subject was tasteful, there are no images of planes or terror, just how it effects the characters of the movie.
Like I said, I knew it was going to happen, but to actually see how each of the characters deal with the events of the day, well I did cry (just to note, this is the 3rd time I’ve cried because of Rob Pattinson in a movie so that RPatz).
Even if your not a huge Pattinson fan, I encourage you to still see the film, the story is very good and the performances by all characters are amazing.
